Geraint Thomas Wins Tour de Romandie Prologue
Team Sky’s Geraint Thomas took his form from the track onto the 3.34km Tour de Romandie Prologue in Lausanne and set a blistering time that remained unbeaten despite the presence of both Bradley Wiggins and Cadel Evans at the 2012 Tour de Romandie.
On a day where the backdrop of the mountains and lake provided a stunning backdrop to some thrilling racing, Team Sky dominated the short prologue time trial to set up a a strong position for the six day stage race of the Tour de Romandie.
Geraint Thomas recorded an unbeaten time of 3:29 for the 3.34km and was followed by Mark Cavendish and Mick rogers in third with 3:35, ensuring Team Sky had three of the top five places. Rain affected the runs of both Cadel Evans and Bradley Wiggins, but again Wiggins proved to be a better rider in the wet recording a time just 11 seconds slower.
